  • Why is it important to know who is using Google Docs?

CloudLock’s user view allows the administrator to see a breakdown of the most active to light users of Google Docs within the domain. This gives an organization an overall view of Google Docs adoption at their organization, and they are then able to see where additional training may be needed.

What are third party Apps and why do they matter?

Third party applications are applications outside of the Google Apps domain. While they may be helpful to teachers and students in the classroom, they could pose serious threats to security. By linking third party apps to a Google Apps domain, an organization’s sensitive material may be at risk and students may be exposed to questionable content.

  • What about Docs that are owned by external users?

External Docs are not always a threat to the domain. Oftentimes there are cases in which teachers or students may be using personal gmail accounts to create Docs for work or school, or outside vendors may create applications to support an organization’s functionality. This can pose a problem because the documents are not owned within the organization. CloudLock allows the domain administrator to bulk copy such external documents to an owner within the organization, which is also helpful in cases of employee retirement or termination.

    Where is CloudLock hosted?

CloudLock is hosted on Google App Engine, Google’s web application hosting environment which is SAS 70 Type II, SSAE 16 Type II, and ISAE 3402 certified.
